Loveland Photographer | Photography Conference 2019 | Las Vegas
My WPPI 2019 Experience
WPPI, one of the world’s largest photography conferences, is located in Vegas. This year was my first year and I thought I would give you my thoughts on the event. Is it worth it? Did I learn a lot? What is the schedule like? Will I go again? All the deets.
First off let me say, this was the most torn I’ve been about something in a while. I am a mom of three and have not been away from my kids for more than a couple of days…well…ever. Anthony (my husband for those that don’t know) and I have not been away together since our honeymoon…..in 2012! So our boys have never been away from both of us at once.
So, that definitely played into my decision and made it a bit harder. Mom guilt is a real thing ya’ll! Thankfully, I my amazing sister, who is featured in the previous post so go check it out, was willing to come and watch out zoo of a home while we were gone.
And for those wondering why I didn’t just go by myself, Anthony actually went to school for Film and is starting to get back into the photo/video side of things. He put it on the back burner for a while but has the itch again. So be on the lookout for new and exciting things happening in the future. And the conference had marketing and SEO classes and it was nice having two people to take all that info in.
WPPI is a 5 day event and has different options at different price ranges. They offer lecture style classes and hands on classes. Some are big and some are more intimate. This year I did the lecture style classes, and while I really enjoyed those and learned a lot, I do think next time I will do the more intimate classes that allow for more one-on-one time. And yes I really hope to go again. It is such an amazing and inspiring atmosphere full of information. There is no way you can leave there without feeling inspired and motivated.
Depending on the classes you take you could be there anywhere from an hour and half to all day. They also tend to have styled shoots set up around Vegas so you can always search FB for those groups. Again, definitely something I will do next time.
I feel like I gained knowledge on shooting and the thought process that needs to be behind it. I also learned about marketing and how to grow my business. And more things that will come to light in the future of Howard-Crow Photography.
All I can say is, if you are considering attending WPPI, do it. No way you will regret it. I’m so thankful I took the plunge and I can’t wait to see the impact it has on my business.
Good things are coming for Howard-Crow Photography, so stay tuned.
There is also an Expo where all of the new and exciting products on the market are for you to check out and play around with. They even have models for you to shoot with different backdrops, lighting setups, etc. This was super fun for me because I do not have a studio. So it allowed me to really go out of my comfort zone. Here are a few of those images.
