Hannah + Trevor | Loveland Photographer | Colorado Adventure Photographer

Hannah + Trevor were such a fun couple. They did a lot of laughing and being silly, while also snugly, which I love. I love capturing the silly moments when couples just let loose. it’s also amazing to see how naturally cuddling up to one another comes to so many. People always say they are nervous or feel weird in front of a camera. But lately, I have found, that couples have been loving on each other no problem, almost as if I’m not even there.

i have found that the first, and pretty much only direction i give, is right at the start of the session.

My one rule:

“Always have some sort of connection through physical touch.”

I learned this from a photographer I look up to very much. And it has seriously been a game changer. Just tell them to always be touching each other, turn on some music, and the rest will just fall into place.

Touch. Such a simple act. But touch leads to dancing, and hugs, and kisses, and laying on his chest. It leads to so much and allows them to feel like they can be themselves. And also, it usually leads to more eye gazing and less staring at the camera. I’m not sitting there telling them “do this, do this, do this.”, so things seem more natural. I try to keep directions minimal.

I’m telling you, if you have trouble directing people, or if you feel like you clients seem nervous or stiff, give them this one little rule.

Game. Changer.
